Jenna Meguid is an associate with the firm. She joined the firm as an articling student in January 2017, and has been with the firm ever since.
Jenna practices in the areas of labour law on behalf of trade unions, professional regulation, human rights, criminal law in the employment context, and also works on the firm’s feminist advocacy pro bono files. She practices in the education, transit, construction, and police sectors.
Jenna obtained her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall law school, graduating in the top 2% of her class and winning numerous awards. While completing her law degree, she concurrently completed a Master’s in Environmental Studies with a focus on police brutality against informal economy workers in Bogotá, Colombia, where she lived for a number of years before returning to law school. As a summer worker in the Social Assistance, Violence and Health division of Parkdale Community Legal Services, in addition to representing clients before the Social Benefits Tribunal, Jenna spearheaded a union organizing drive that successfully organized the legal aid clinic’s 20 student workers.
Before coming to law, Jenna had a long and eclectic history of social justice work, having worked as a crisis counsellor in shelters for women fleeing violence, a public policy consultant, and as a Spanish-language course instructor with the United Nations Development Program Virtual School for Latin America and the Caribbean. She holds an honours degree in Peace and Conflict Studies and Political Science from the University of Toronto.
Jenna is the founder and coordinator of a Toronto-area networking events for early and mid-career and union-side labour lawyers. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers, the Law Union of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Toronto Lawyers’ Association.
