Katy O’Rourke is an associate with the firm. She participated in the joint articling program with the firm and Unifor before practicing union side labour law, with a focus on construction unions, at another Toronto firm. She has returned to Ursel Phillips Fellows Hopkinson LLP to continue her practice in the areas of labour law on behalf of trade unions and associations; human rights; administrative law; pension and benefits; professional discipline; and insolvency proceedings.
Katy holds a J.D. from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law and an Honours B.A. in English and Political Science from the University of Waterloo. In law school, she was Program Coordinator of the school’s chapter of Pro Bono Students Canada; acted as the student member of the Law Commission of Ontario’s Violence against Women Curriculum Modules Initiative; headed the Wills Project that provided wills and powers of attorney to low income communities; and participated in both the University of Toronto’s legal clinic, Downtown Legal Services, and the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic.
