Susan Ursel and Kristen Allen represented a transgender individual, T.A., in a human rights complaint challenging the Government of Manitoba’s practice of requiring a sex designation of either “M” or “F” to be listed on the birth certificates that it issues. The Board of Adjudication found that the Government’s practice was discriminatory and awarded the complainant $50,000 in damages.
