Sep 5, 2018

Karen Ensslen represented the interests of retired and former members of the Essar Steel Algoma Inc. pension plans in this oppression remedy case, in which the Court held that Essar Steel Algoma Inc.’s parent corporation was unfairly prejudicial to, and unfairly disregarded the interests of, Algoma’s trade creditors, employees, pensioners and retirees in certain financial restructuring transactions.  Karen also acted as co-counsel for the retirees in the parallel proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA).
