Geoff Cross uses strong investigative and analytical skills to understand his clients’ operations, challenges and goals, and build meaningful relations with them.

Geoff practices union-side labour law for a broad range of clients in different sectors. His union-side work primarily involves grievance arbitration and advocacy before administrative tribunals and courts. He also assists clients on matters relating to the administration of their union or association. Being able to draw on experience from a variety of unionized sectors helps him bring different perspectives and solutions to clients’ issues.

Geoff has worked on complex cases helping unions to preserve opportunities for their members by challenging employer attempts to contract out bargaining unit work. He has also helped unions obtain reinstatement for several employees unjustly fired for breaching fitness for duty protocols.

He obtained his JD from Osgoode Hall Law School, where he volunteered with several legal clinics including the Income Security Advocacy Centre. There, Geoff worked on test-case litigation seeking to improve workers’ access to long-term disability benefits. He was also involved in several mooting competitions.

Geoff received his Master’s in the field of conflict resolution from the University of Victoria. He was a policy researcher focusing on income security issues.

He is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers.
