UPFH partner Gary Hopkinson is a committed advocate for unions and working people with extensive experience navigating complex litigation.
Gary represents trade unions, employee associations, police associations and individual workers in all areas of labour law. He appears regularly in grievance arbitrations, collective bargaining and interest arbitrations and matters before the Ontario Labour Relations Board. Additionally, he acts for unionized workers or workplaces in civil litigation, judicial reviews and appeals, judicial inquiries and coroner’s inquests, as well as human rights complaints and professional disciplinary hearings. Occupational health and safety issues, workers’ compensation appeals and defences to regulatory offences related to unionized workplaces also fall within his remit. As an advisor, he provides expert guidance on trade union and association governance.
Gary has been in practice serving the needs of unions and working people for over 25 years.
